Started my training in Shotokan Karate with Mr T. Miyazaki from Japan 1966 to 1970. at Jerome Mackey Karate School Brooklyn,NY
1970 to 1973 trained with Muhammad Rahman( Donnie Collins). We went to Jr and High school together. Started at Jerome Mackey, Along with Henry Washington.
1973 – 1974 Moy Yat Ving Tsun with Sifu Douglas Lee NY,NY
1974 – 1978 I trained with Rico Guy U S Budo Kai Kan in Go Ju Ryu, Kendo, Laido and Shorinji Kempo Manhattan,NY
Started training 1977 with Professor F. Visitacion, Prof. Jonatan Steward, Prof. Velez, Prof. Pop Edwards, his son Cowboy and Shihan Lou Ferrer. We trained in Brooklyn on Remsen St. Prof. Vee introduced me to Arnis stick fighting.
Of my few disciplines I like Arnis. Blending it with the Kendo I learned from Grand Master Rico Guy; I went on to become a three time Stick Fighting Champion in Arnis.

2001 I started training in BaGua Zhang with the late Sifu Roosevelt Gainey
Created and produced the cable TV show called “On The Mat”. It featured Martial Arts from all styles and systems. Started broadcasting 2001 to 2012 on BCAT, TimeWarner, CableVision, all five boroughs Long Island, and Washington D.C. Shihan Scott who was with me at the start of the show produced the music and hosted the show as well.

David James introduced himself to me and Muhammad Rahman at a tournament in Brooklyn,where I was competing. Muhammad, Dave, and I trained for a short time in my backyard. I then took Dave to train with me in Go Ju Ryu, at US Budo KAI Kan with the late GM Rico Guy. I was a Brown Belt in Go-Ju at the time I meet Grand Master Florence M. Visitacion 1977 in Brooklyn. I started training with Professor Vee and Lou Ferrer. After I earned my Black Belt with GM Rico Guy and Master Cliff Willams I introduced David James to professor Vee 1978, we were still training with Prof. Rico Guy. After a while Dave joined Professor Vee with me and the rest is history.
Around 2005 Scott and I attended a seminar for Professor Amante P. Marinas, where we met Guro Spencer Gee. He was the top student of Prof. Marinas, and a class mate with Prof. Vee. When he discovered that we were students of Prof. Vee he offered to train us in Pananandata, which is part of the foundation for Prof. Vee’s Vee Arnis system.
2010 started training in Pekiti-Tirsia Kali Silat with Tuhon Dennis Allen, and my cousin Durand Howard. Dennis left and we started training with Tuhon Tony McGeorger a direct student of Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje Jr. and later Grand Tuhon Gaje himself.
I am teaching at VeeAJ Headquarters Brooklyn. VAJ Staten Island Dojo, and BlueLife Karate Centers New Jersey.
Married to my wife Cookie for 40 years. We have 5 beautiful children, 7 grand children and 2 great grands. I am blessed to have her by my side. The success of any relationship is a strong foundation. As long as your solid when you start what ever you build will stand the test of time like the pyramids.
